I am pleased to announce that we are in our final testing of JetSEt v1.1 If all goes well tomorrow we will submit to Apple the 1.1 update to JetSet. Here is the list of new features and bug fixes: New Features - Full Expense Reporting: Now every expense type will produce a detailed listing of the detailed information related to the expense. This now makes it possible for you to produce a full physical backup of your expense report with all of your notes intact. Now don’t get confused and think you can restore this to your iPhone. Instead this is just a great way for you to get your entire expense report to either Google or into email. Further many accountants will appreciate the detail that is provided. - Usability improvements: Now when you hit the Back button from the expense detail screen your changes are saved. Many users asked for this and now with 1.1 it is done. There are many bug fixes in this release as well. Here is a list: - Camera! Yes, it now works well and will no longer crash your phone. This was the biggest area of concern in the application. Those who did not use this feature had reasonable stability. Those who used the camera had problems and for this we do apologize. - Expense Start/End dates now work as they are supposed to. The idea is that you should never need to edit the start/end dates of an expense report because you can always add expenses at any date. If you add an expense after the end date the end date is reset to the end day of the expense you entered. If you enter something before the start date of your expense report then the program will also move the start date. So what happens if you do this accidently and didn’t want to move the start date? Simple. Delete the expense that caused the date to move earlier and the start date springs back! The same is true for the end date. This means you can create an expense report just using the current date for the start and end dates and JetSet will just modify the dates, as it needs based on the dates you enter for individual expenses. - When adding a new expense it no longer defaults to the start date of the expense report. What it was supposed to do was select either the start date of the report or the current date—which ever is greater. This way if you wanted to create an expense report in the future it would use that date instead of today’s date. The bug fix now makes it work properly. - The date editor would show Event Date and End Date. It should have shown Start Date and End Date. - The date editor would not highlight the Start Date when you entered the editor—though it was highlighted. This is fixed. - The full screen image viewer would not behave correctly if you hit the back button. Now the back button is the same as the cancel button. Other Changes: - The program has a lot of foundation work done for the upcoming feature that will let you identify how an expense was paid. - All of the program strings were removed from the source code and placed in resource files so it will be possible to localize the product in the future. Some notes: - 2.1 is a very important update for the iPhone and iPod Touch. There were serious issues in the 2.02 firmware that caused 3rd party application instability. One of the symptoms had to do with memory where it would make less and less memory available for an application to run. You probably saw this in many applications in that the program might show you the start up window but then would ultimately either go back to the Home screen, lock the phone up or restart the phone. Sadly the 3rd party developers took this on the chin. With the camera bug we had it was really underlined as many iPhones would not even take a picture without the phone being reset first. - 2.1 is required for JetSet 1.1 - Older expense reports created with JetSet 1.0 will not show thumbnail or full image previews of receipts. This was necessary to correct an issue regarding memory usage. There just was simply not enough memory to load all of the images. The good news is that your images were synced to the iPhone’s photo gallery so you will not lose any of these images. Sorry for the inconvenience. It has been a rough week for us but please know that I (we) at BriteMac really appreciate the supportive emails. Please tell your friends about JetSet—and if you are happy with the 1.1 update please do us a favor and write a review of the software. We really will appreciate it.
