JetSet is on the AppStore & Your Feedback
Saturday, 23 August 2008

Well it has been a very interesting couple of days. JetSet is released and while not showing in the "What's New" section of the AppStore many people have found it in the Business section. There was a lot of feedback today and some pretty nice reviews (Thank you!). Here are a few things that came up in the email that I would like to share.

One thing that I heard loud and clear today is that I need to rethink my plan on currency.  It is very clear now that I have to be more inclusive in the number of currencies that must be supported. Many people made it clear that there is more than the Euro, Pound and the US/Canadian dollar in the world!

So now I am rethinking the entire strategy and many of you have given me great ideas and I think even more importantly told me what I ought not to do when implementing this feature. So I’ll post soon a revised strategy that hopefully will meet all of your needs.

The second highest request was to allow you to assign how you paid for an item—which I never had quite understood the need for this until I read from one user that reimbursements are often tied to the card that made the purchase—such as a corporate credit card. This important feature I will work into a future version of the software as well.

Additionally people wanted a feature for expenses that are paid by the company and have to be tracked on an expense report but are not reimbursable. I will certainly visit that feature in the future as well.

Finally the need to handle cash advances was also highlighted as important. I have a reasonable workaround using Miscellaneous expenses and using negative expense amounts to get things to work—but I have a better plan for that feature in the future.

My development priorities are right now:
-    Version 1.1
o    Support for multiple currencies
o    Support for French, German, Spanish and Italian
-    Version 1.2
o    Support for marking expense paid method
o    Reimbursement expense assignment

I really do appreciate the feedback both here and on the AppStore. I truly want to make this software the last word in expense tracking.
